StoneGate IPsec Vpn is a computer software used for secure connections. StoneGate IPsec Vpn Client is compliant with the IPsec, IKEv1 and IKEv2 standards. StoneGate IPsec Vpn Client can only be used with a StoneGate Firewall/Vpn gateway because of the proprietary automatic configuration methods.

Stonegate configuration:

  • Set up a new gateway NewGateway1, NewGateway2, Newgateway3, NewGateway4,NewGateway5, Requestnewcertificate1, Unsigned Certificate, Signed Certificate
  • Set up a Mobile VPN NewVPN1
  • Now configure the new Mobile VPN VPN Properties1, VPN Properties2, VPN Properties3
  • Now configure the policy and user settings Policy Properties1,User Properties1

Stonegate Signing the request:

  • Set up a new gateway
  • Open the vpn Manger
  • Click on the certificate manger icon (a picture ofthe icon and an screenshot of the manager is in Signing1)
  • Click on Import and select the certificate request
  • Click on sign internally
  • Click on export and save the signed request to afile

Exporting the firewalls certificate

  • Open the vpn Manger
  • Click on the Gateways Tab
  • Now right click on properties and export thecertificate Exporting1, Exporting2

VPN Tracker configuration:

  • Create a certificate Request: Request Details
  • Export the certificate as .pem file, import it into your Stonegate, sign it and finally export it to VPN Tracker as signed certificate: Certificate Details
  • Create a new connection type for your Stonegate: Phase 1 General, Phase 1 Proposal, Phase 2
  • Create a new connection with following settings: Connection Settings, Network Settings, Authentication Settings, Identifier Settings

The Cisco VPN client is a small application that is easy to install and to use, with a very compact and intuitive interface. The Cisco VPN client is used to establish secure connections for remote access in a Virtual Private Network. The Client supports all Cisco VPN access products and servers, as you would expect and the connection, depending on your own, is very stable with nearly no disconnections. The client can be used in a wide variety of platforms: Windows 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Mac OS X (PPC and Intel), Linux Intel and Solaris UltraSparc.
The client is very easy to use, and very flexible so the end users won't have much problem installing it and setting up a connection, you can even have connection entries that the users can add quickly. However in version 4.8 there is sometimes the case that the connection entries suffer a small glitch and they have to be installed again. All in all this is a great solution for your VPN; however, you need to have Cisco infrastructure for its best use.
